In Halifax, the speed limit is 40 mph. Once it becomes concurrent with NC 32, the speed limit is 55 mph (88 km/h). The speed limit is 45 mph (72 km/h) in most rural areas along the route. The speed limit is also 55 mph (88 km/h) near where the road splits to go toward Currituck. Finally, in Currituck, the speed limit is 25 mph.
